Bible Verses About Faith

Faith in the Bible is more than belief held quietly in the mind. It is trust that leans its whole weight on God, and it has a way of showing up in how we treat the people around us. These verses hold both sides together: faith as deep confidence, and faith as something the world can actually see.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The Bible's nearest thing to a definition. Faith gives weight to hope and treats the unseen as solid ground.

2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

A way of moving through the world — taking the next step before the whole path is visible.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

Even the faith is a gift. There is nothing here to earn or to hold over anyone else.

Galatians 5:6
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Paul brushes aside the religious badges people fought over and names what actually counts: faith that works by love.

James 2:17
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Faith that never reaches anyone else, James says bluntly, is not resting — it's dead. Belief is meant to move.
