Trust is not the same as certainty. The Bible never promises that trusting God means understanding everything that happens. What it promises is that the one being trusted is trustworthy — and that trust, over time, becomes the most stable ground available.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Lean not unto thine own understanding — which is limited, which sees only part of what's happening. Trust what sees all of it.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Trust is not the absence of fear. It is what you do while afraid.
Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.
For ever — not just for this season, not just when it's working. The invitation is permanent.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Has not forsaken — not a promise about the future only. A record of what has been true.
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
He knoweth them — personally. Trust is not anonymous. It is known and recognized.
