When the Bible describes real wisdom, it sounds different from what the word usually conjures. It isn't cleverness or being right — it's something humbler and kinder. Scripture's wisest people are peaceable, gentle, and merciful, and they show no favoritism. These verses point toward that quieter, more generous kind of knowing.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Wisdom begins by loosening the grip on our own certainty — leaning on something larger than what we can see from here.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
No qualification required, no scolding for asking. Wisdom is given liberally to anyone humble enough to admit they need it.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Notice the list. True wisdom is peaceable, gentle, merciful — and shows no partiality. If a 'wisdom' divides and plays favorites, it isn't from above.
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
Pride and wisdom rarely share a room. The lowly — the teachable — are the ones who actually grow wise.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Wisdom is finally a gift, not a trophy. It comes from God's mouth, received rather than achieved.
