The Hebrew word for peace — shalom — means far more than the absence of conflict. It means wholeness, completeness, a sense that all is as it should be. These verses point toward that deeper peace: the kind that holds even when everything around you is unsettled.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
A peace different from what the world offers — not the absence of trouble, but presence within it.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Peace as a guard. Something protective, not just passive.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Perfect peace. Not partial, not occasional. The condition is trust.
The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
One of the oldest blessings in scripture. Still true.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Peace is a result of what we fix our minds on. We have more agency here than we think.
