Jesus' instructions about being wronged are the ones most people quietly set aside as impractical. Turn the other cheek. Give the cloak too. Go the second mile. Put the sword away. Paul and Peter repeat the same thing in their own words: do not pay back evil with evil. It is not a strategy for winning. It is a different way of answering.

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
'Resist not evil' is one of the strangest sentences in the Bible, and Jesus said it in the plainest possible way.
And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
The coat, the cloak, the second mile. Each example gives more than was demanded, freely, and so takes the power out of the demand.
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Said to a friend who had just drawn a sword to defend him. The sword goes back in its place.
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Paul's version is practical: recompense no evil, live peaceably with all men, as much as lieth in you. He knows it does not always lie in you.
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Not railing for railing. Peter says blessing is the thing we were called to, and the thing we inherit.
