Bible Verses About Gratitude

Gratitude in scripture isn't a feeling to wait for — it's a practice to return to. These verses treat thankfulness as something we choose, something we bring regardless of circumstances. They're an invitation to notice what's already there.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

In everything — not for everything. A meaningful distinction.

Psalm 118:24
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Today. Not yesterday's memories or tomorrow's hopes. The gift is this day.

Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Gratitude as a posture for everything — not just the obviously good things.

Psalm 107:1
O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

One of the most repeated phrases in the Psalms. Some things bear repeating.

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Every good thing. The small ones too. Gratitude grows when we start noticing them.
