Bible Verses About Encouragement

Scripture treats encouragement as a two-way thing: comfort to receive when you're worn down, and a gift to hand to someone else who is. Much of the Bible's hope is meant to be passed along. These verses are good to keep for yourself — and good to send to a person who needs them today.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Four promises stacked in a row — present, strengthening, helping, upholding. Meant to be leaned on, not just read.

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Encouragement is described as something done together — building each other up, mutually, on purpose.

Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.

To 'consider one another' — to actually pay attention to people — and stir them toward love. Encouragement with a direction.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

For the tired ones still trying to do good. The harvest comes; don't quit in the waiting.

Romans 15:1-2
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Strength is for spending on others. The strong carry the weak — and aim, always, at the neighbor's good.
