Bible Verses About Knowing Them by Their Fruits
How do you tell the genuine article from the imitation? Jesus gave a test anyone can use: look at the fruit. Not the words, not the title, not the volume. Grapes do not grow on thorns. Paul, James and John each fill in what good fruit actually looks like, and it is always the same list: love, peace, gentleness, mercy.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
The test is simple enough for a child. What grows on it? Thorns do not produce grapes, however they are labeled.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Saying 'Lord, Lord' is not the fruit. Doing the will of the Father is.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Nine fruits, and every one of them is gentle. There is no law against any of them.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Wisdom from above has a recognizable flavor: pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy, without partiality, without hypocrisy.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
John does not leave room for a loophole. Love for God that does not reach a brother is not love for God.
