Verse of the week · Week of May 16, 2027
Sunday's verse is Romans 6:4-5; Wednesday's companion is James 3:17. Print the bulletin insert for your church, the cards for a midweek group, or just keep one on the fridge.

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:”
Romans 6:4-5

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
James 3:17

Romans 6:4-5 · King James Version
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Buried with him, raised with him, walking in newness of life. Pentecost's verse is about a fresh start.
Wednesday · James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Notice the list. True wisdom is peaceable, gentle, merciful — and shows no partiality. If a 'wisdom' divides and plays favorites, it isn't from above.
