Jesus talked about money more than almost anything else, and rarely approvingly. He did not say wealth was evil. He said it was dangerous, that it crowds out trust in God, and that it is very hard to hold a lot of it and still enter the kingdom. These verses are as direct as he was.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Jesus' warning is not about theft or waste but about covetousness, and about measuring a life by what it owns.
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
The disciples were astonished and asked who then could be saved. Jesus did not soften the picture; he said that with God all things are possible.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Not money, but the love of it. Paul says it has led people away from the faith and into sorrows of their own making.
Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
Sell, and give alms. Jesus describes a kind of savings that no thief can reach and no moth can eat.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Paul's instruction to the rich is not to feel guilty but to do something: be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to share.
