Bible Verses About Doing Good Quietly

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

The warning is not against doing good but against doing it 'to be seen of them.' The audience changes what the deed is.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Let not the left hand know what the right hand does. Generosity so quiet that even you barely notice it.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

A closet, a shut door, and a Father who sees in secret. Prayer, in Jesus' description, is a private conversation.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Two men prayed in the temple. The one who went home justified was the one who could not lift his eyes.

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

A one-sentence rule for the whole of life. The exalted are abased; the humble are exalted.
