Caregiving is one of the most exhausting, invisible, and sacred things a person can do. The Bible honors it — the care for the widow, the sick, the aging, the vulnerable runs through scripture as a mark of genuine faith. These verses are for the people who are doing that work, often alone, often at the end of their strength.
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
What you are doing for the person in your care — Jesus receives it as done to him. The work is seen and it matters infinitely.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
In due season — not yet, but coming. The harvest of this faithfulness will come. Do not faint.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
To them that have no might — this verse is specifically for caregivers at the end of their reserves.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Rest for your soul — not just your body. The deepest kind. You are allowed to bring the weight of this to God.
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
You are caring for someone. Someone is caring for you. Cast your weight on the one who can hold it.
